“Trends in Modern Painting” Intensive

Painting is one of the oldest expressive means in the fine arts and there is an opinion that it is outdated and has lost relevance in contemporary art. This course aims at debunking this position through theoretical and practical studies of contemporary trends and movements in painting.

The course focuses on three main themes:

“Subject matter: what we paint.
Contemporary art presents an impressive array of subjects, but that doesn’t mean that any of them will work for you. How do you choose the subjects with the most potential to express your ideas?

“Imagination and Observation”: how we see
The act of perception underlies our aesthetic response. Together we’ll look at understanding the relationship between imagination and appearance, and how this is used in a work of art.

“Technique and Language: How We Work.
Color, light, space and form are the most important pillars of the language of painting. Here you will learn how to manipulate these elements, which will help you further improve your work.

The intensive will include visits to exhibitions and meetings with famous artists, curators, gallerists and representatives from leading museums and art institutions.
During the course students will create a series of works, which will be shown at the final viewing on the last day of the Intensive.

FOR WHOM THE INTENSIVE
