New Media in Modern Art

The educational program is devoted to technologies and contemporary forms of artistic expression.

The focus of the program is on the history and theory of media art in the context of contemporary art and philosophy.

Media-art or media-art (new media art, time based art) is a general name for a variety of practices in which artists use and critically reflect on contemporary technologies and forms of communication.

Media art includes science art, video art, sound art, experimental filmmaking, digital and interactive art, computer animation, robotic installations, blockchain and other forms.

New or old media are the tools an artist uses to make contact with the viewer.

New media are distinguished from old media by the presence of a digital component, the artist’s use of the Internet as a natural habitat.

Artists need to look into technology, rethink the scientific apparatus, and make us see what the post-digital reality actually consists of, who controls it, and how it affects the ability to produce and perceive art.
