How to do modern painting?

Painting today is vigorously developing, it is creative, vibrant, and occupies one of the main places in contemporary art as a mode of creative expression. This program is not only about the technical, but also about the creative side of painting. The program will teach about color and light, working with paints and working with portfolios, sketches and approaches, and not forgetting a brief history of painting and its context.

The main goal is to give participants a concept of creative freedom along with a set of professional skills and abilities for their own creative method. It is important not just to expand knowledge of what painting is today, but also to help shape one’s own approach and try as many traditional techniques as possible as well as original ones.

Objectives:

  • To demonstrate what contemporary painting looks like now, what its history is, what context exists today
  • Through communication with practicing artists and curators give an understanding of how painting lives today
  • To enable the participant to learn painting techniques that will help shape the creative self of the painter

The class will include meetings with members of the contemporary art community: painters, multidisciplinary artists, and curators.
